Thea Foglietta Silverstein has been with Travelers Casualty and Surety Company of America since 1996 and is Managing Counsel working out of the Philadelphia office. She is responsible for managing a team of claim professionals and overseeing bond claims, particularly those of higher severity and complexity. Thea serves on the Travelers’ Business Support Team, providing among other support, contract review and analysis, for underwriting partners as well as external business associates. She recently co-authored a paper on the False Claims Act (pending publication). Thea has participated in and led several long and short term strategy teams and projects within Travelers. She also heads the Payment Bond Claim Round-table held monthly as a training/discussion forum for claim attorneys and claim representatives in the Philadelphia Claim Office.
Thea received her undergraduate degree from Cabrini College (Radnor, PA) in association with honors programs for international studies at the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, PA) and the University of Geneva (Geneva Switzerland). She earned her J.D. cum laude from Whittier College School of Law (Costa Mesa, CA).
Before coming to Travelers, Thea was a partner with Snell & Wilmer, LLP in Phoenix, AZ and served as Consulente (Of Counsel) in the Rome, Italy office of Simmons and Simmons Grippo, an international law firm. Upon returning to the US, Thea worked as an independent third party administrator with Atlantic Surety Consultants Company. Prior to attending law school, Thea was with the CBS affiliate in Phoenix, AZ where she wrote, produced and reported special interest features.
