The PSAC offers two initiatives to our members to help off-set the cost of belonging to the ABA and attending ABA FSLC Conferences.
Scholarships. The Committee will also annually award two (2) scholarships for attendance at ABA FSLC conferences (e.g., as Midwinter, Spring, Fall). To be considered, the applicant will (1) submit the attached application, (2) be a current PSCA member (including payment of dues), and (3) have attended two out of the last five luncheon meetings to qualify for consideration. After an applicant meets these requirements, the Committee, subject to final approval by the Board, may select an applicant for a scholarship for attendance at a conference. The recipient will be reimbursed for incurred and paid conference registration fees and will be reimbursed up to $1,000 for approved expenses. The Committee shall, in its discretion, determine what expenses are eligible for reimbursement. No funds shall be awarded to any applicant who has previously received an award unless, subsequent to the award, he or she has demonstrated a commitment to active participation in PSCA activities.
Please note that the identity of applicants for both ABA memberships and scholarship funds shall be held in the strictest confidence, although non-identifying information submitted in the application may be used by the Committee in making its recommendations for approval to the Board. No information related to the name or identity of any recipient shall be released to any person other than Aimee Ludwig who will receive and process the application and reimbursement. Aimee Ludwig will remove identifying information from the application before submitting it to the Committee for consideration.
Charitable Gift. As an added incentive to attend the luncheon meetings, the Committee will award a charitable gift to a charity designated by a randomly selected PSCA member in attendance. At each luncheon meeting, one $500.00 charitable gift will be awarded through a random drawing of names of all attendees present. The winner will be asked to select a charitable recipient, but PSCA must kindly request that the winner refrain from selecting any political or religious charities, and all designations will be subject to PSCA Board approval. At the following PSCA lunch, the winner will be asked to give a short presentation about the charity and the reason it was chosen. The PSCA will then mail the charity the check. The winner will then draw a name and select the next winner.
